Adams Montessori School is located in Quincy, Massachusetts near the city center in the historic Adams district. Since its founding over fifty years ago, our school has earned a reputation on the South Shore for high-quality education and a nurturing environment based on the teachings of Dr. Maria Montessori. We are a diverse community of children, their families and teachers. Our mission is to provide a stimulating Montessori environment that inspires a lifelong love of learning and individual growth. We serve the needs of toddlers, preschool aged children (includes pre-kindergarten and kindergarten) and elementary aged children.
We were established in 1969 by the Columban Sisters at a small church in Hyde Park. In 1976, a group of dedicated families assumed the operation of the school which remained parent run for many decades before relocating to Milton. The school was incorporated (originally as the Montessori School for Early Learning) and a Board of Directors was established in 1993.
In 1996, Dominique Mouthon became the director of the school then located at Temple Shalom in Milton. Under her guidance, the school added a second primary class, relocated to Quincy and was accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI). Eventually two more primary classes were added and in 2001 our elementary program was established.
After three years of development and construction - and thanks to a group of visionaries, dedicated parents, alumni families and board members - Adams Montessori School opened the doors to its new permanent home at 310 Adams Street in 2009.
